London to Hull

Main train stations in Hull

Hull has four train stations in or around the city. Hull Station is located in the city centre. Cottingham Station, Hessle Station, and Beverley Station are all situated near the city of Hull. The distance between any of these stations and Hull city centre is no more than 10 miles. These stations provide convenient access to the city and surrounding areas.

Hull Station

Hull Station, part of the Hull Paragon Interchange which opened in 1847, operates alongside bus and coach services. The station is served by TransPennine Express, Hull Trains, and LNER, featuring seven platforms and providing daily high-speed, punctual, and frequent train services to popular destinations such as London, Manchester, and Leeds.

Nearby, Princes Quay Shopping Centre offers convenient shopping options for visitors. A short 7-minute walk from the station leads to Ferens Art Gallery, which houses a rich collection of artworks. Hull Marina, a picturesque dock area, is about a 15-minute walk away. Further towards the estuary, The Deep, one of the world's deepest aquariums, is approximately a 20-minute walk from Hull Station.

Cottingham Station

Opened in 1846, Cottingham Station serves as a valuable transport hub for commuters residing in the village of Cottingham, situated northwest of Hull. Hull Trains and Northern operate fast and punctual services to London, Beverley and more. Be aware that there are no staff to assist, so it is best to buy your tickets from the ticket machine or online.

After leaving Cottingham Station, you can walk west to St Mary’s Church and Cottingham Green. The latter offers a variety of shops, cafés, and restaurants, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy the local atmosphere.

Hessle Station

Since its opening in 1840, Hessle Station has served the town of Hessle, located west of Hull. It is the closest station to the Humber Bridge in the Hull area, making it an ideal starting point for visiting the bridge and enjoying its stunning views. Managed by Northern Rail, the station provides easy access to Hull, Doncaster, and York. Please note that Hessle Station is unstaffed, so you'll need to purchase your tickets online or from the ticket machine in advance.

Beverley Station

Beverley Station, located to the northwest of Hull, primarily serves the historic town of Beverley. Opened in 1846, this listed building is operated by Northern and Hull Trains, offering convenient services to Hull, Bridlington, Sheffield, York, and other destinations. Please note that the station is unstaffed on Sundays, so it is advisable to purchase tickets online in advance.

Upon exiting Beverley train station, you can reach the local landmark Beverley Minster in about a 7-minute walk. The church's interior features exquisite carvings and stained glass, making it well worth a visit. Another place worth visiting is Beverley Saturday Market, located just a 10-minute walk from the station. Operating every Saturday from 9:00 to 16:00, the market offers a variety of stalls selling fresh produce, crafts, and other goods.
